The Historic Archives Conservation ProjectThis project aims at conserving, curating and cataloguing the unique astronomical artifacts, books, journals, and letters, in the Crawford Collection, the Piazzi Smyth collection, and the general ROE archives, and making them more widely available to both historical scholars and the general public, through a programme of digitisation and creating a searchable facility.
There are three targets: £10K for conservation work on the most high priority ancient books in the Crawford collection. £10K for conservation work on the Piazzi Smyth sketchbooks and journals. £86K for a two year programme of digitisation, cataloguing, and showcasing of the world-famous Crawford Collection. £50K to build appropriate storage facilities for the general historical ROE archives. |
